How Much Does Starlink Cost in Your Area?

Starlink’s monthly price is only one part of the amount due at checkout. Your actual total depends on the plans offered at your service address, the equipment option shown for that order, shipping, taxes, and any location-dependent demand surcharge. Starlink tells customers to enter an exact address because plan availability and promotions can vary by location.

Current U.S. Residential plan prices

Starlink’s official U.S. service-plan page currently lists Residential 100 Mbps at $55 per month, Residential 200 Mbps at $85 per month, and Residential Max at $130 per month. The 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps options are available only in select areas. Residential Max receives the maximum available speeds and the highest Residential network priority.

All three Residential plans advertise unlimited data, but Starlink warns that performance can slow during congestion. A plan shown nationally may not appear for every address, and the checkout offer is the best source for the location you intend to serve.

Equipment and shipping

The order flow shows the kit available for the selected plan and address. Starlink may offer a purchase, rental, installation, or promotional equipment arrangement depending on the market. Because these offers can change, use the amount displayed during checkout rather than relying on an old nationwide equipment price.

Starlink’s terms say shipping and handling charges apply and are displayed with the order. Review those charges before submitting payment. If equipment is rented, the terms require it to be returned after cancellation; an unreturned kit can lead to a charge for the equipment’s full retail price.

Demand surcharge

Starlink may add a one-time Demand Surcharge when network demand is high. Its official help page says the charge is determined by the service address and selected plan. It can apply when starting service, activating a new plan in a high-demand area, changing the service address, or switching plans.

There is no dependable nationwide surcharge amount. The charge can change as capacity and demand change, so use the exact figure shown in the current order flow. Starlink says an eligible Demand Surcharge is refundable when hardware is returned within the 30-day return window under the applicable return terms.

Taxes and other fees

Starlink’s terms allow applicable taxes and legally required fees to be collected in addition to service, equipment, and accessories. An Outside Region Fee may apply if a kit is activated outside the region where it was originally purchased. These charges depend on the order and location and should appear before payment or in the applicable account terms.

Calculate the first payment

1. Enter the exact service address on Starlink’s website.
2. Record the monthly price of each plan offered at that address.
3. Add the equipment purchase, rental, or activation amount shown.
4. Add shipping and estimated taxes.
5. Look for a Demand Surcharge or Outside Region Fee.
6. Read any promotion conditions, including eligibility and return requirements.

Do the same calculation for competing fiber, cable, fixed wireless, and 5G home internet options. A lower advertised monthly rate can still cost more after equipment and installation, while a higher monthly rate may offer stronger upload speeds or lower latency.

Estimate the cost over a full year

Separate one-time charges from recurring charges. Multiply the monthly service price by 12, add the equipment and shipping total, and include any surcharge shown at checkout. If equipment is rented, include 12 months of rental charges. Apply a promotion only for the months it actually lasts.

This annual view makes address-specific offers easier to compare. It also helps prevent a one-time discount from hiding a higher ongoing cost.

Starlink manages availability and demand by service location. Two nearby addresses may be offered different plans, promotions, or demand charges. Use only the address where the equipment will operate, and do not assume a neighbor’s checkout total will apply to your home.
